This was our third stay at Mountain Thunder Lodge and it just keeps getting better. We decided to stay in one of the 3 bedroom townhomes this trip and it was wonderful! It was spacious, clean and decorated beautifully. It had a full kitchen, steam shower (a must), washer/dryer, fireplace, grill, two-car garage and much more. The shuttle service to town is so convenient and we never waited more than five minutes for it. One area for improvement...better tissues! We love Mountain Thunder and can't wait to return.

The service was exceptional, the front desk staff and shuttle bus drivers couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our stay. We were particularly impressed by the positivity, knowledge and can-do attitude of Darlene, Sean, Scott, Spencer, and Adam. The 1-bed room on the ground floor (1104) was massive with a good kitchen, TV, fireplace, bed and bathroom facilities. Check out Channel 8 "TV8" on a morning to get accurate local snow reports. We did not use the fitness room, but did use the hot tub at the back of the main building. It looks over the mountains, and the "4 o-clock run" green run from Peak 8 comes straight past here - truly ski-in.
The free shuttle bus was a bonus service. We did not expect to use it much, but the weather was really cold (windchill -35F). It is common practice to give the drivers modest tips - we did on most journeys, but not all - throw in a couple of bucks a time, or USD5 from time to time. They deserve it for their "no problem" attitude - they help load skis onto back of bus for example.
The Lodge is very close (5 mins walk with skis) to the gondola lift of Peak 8 which goes via Peak 7. It is also close to City Market supermarket and liquor store (5-8 mins walk - without skis !). You can get a free discount card at City Market (no curry sauces mind you). We mixed up our stay with eating out and cooking in, so having breakfast in the apartment was convenient and relaxing. (Food on the mountain BTW is half-decent but a bit of a rip-off).
It is about a 10 minute walk to Main Street ..the er... main street of Breckenridge (or you can get the shuttle) where basically everything is (shops, restaurants, bars, ski/board hire). Peak 9 is at the top of Main Street, about 5 mins walk from Main Street Sports ski/board hire shop for example, where we got our gear (helpful team).
We did not have one bit of bad service at MTL or in Breckenridge. Restaurants we really enjoyed were Michael's, Hearthstone, Giampietro, and Breckenridge Brewery. Other places that were ok were Mi Casa, Columbine Cafe, and the Irish Pub. Breckenridge has a great service called "Gourmet Cabby" - you can ring for pretty much any sort of food, liquor and ice-cream delivered to you hotel room door - Eric's pizzas was fantastic.
Other services at MTL that were good to have. There is a locker room for your skis/board; we kept our boots in our room; you can rent DVDs (2 per night at $7.95) from the MTL collection; there is free coffee in the lobby but we didn't try it, there are sofas, fireplace, TV etc. MTL is a very green accommodation. They provide recycling facilities, reusable shopping bags and the like.
Overall this was a great stay. The only negative comment we saw before we went was some bloke's issue with lumpy beds. Not the case, the bed was really comfortable (and vast as you would expect).
This was the best skiing accommodation we have ever had. The resort is wonderful and welcoming. It was freakishly and exceptionally cold when we were there, but we were still not put off having a great time - the powder made up for it. We would strongly recommend trying this place to couples, families and groups; we will certainly be back.

This is a great place for families to stay! We stayed in a townhome for 8 nights in the height of the ski-season and everything about Mountain Thunder exceeded our expectations. The condo was very roomy, the house cleaners very thorough, the front-desk very service orientated, there was a courtesy shuttle available all day to pick you up and drop you off anywhere around Breckenridge, heated swimming pool and several heated spa pools dotted around the complex and ski-in!! The condo has a very cozy lodge like feel.
